Abstract:
The text presents the main analytical and theoretical orientations of the sociology of education. The subject of the sociology of education and its specific sociological approach to educational issues are defined. Next, a typology of research approaches in the sociology of education is presented. The author raises the question of whether a synthetic analytical perspective is possible, which would link the different analytical threads and their methods of interpretation used by the various perspectives outlined in this paper. The paper may be a starting point for further discussions on the meaning of theory in education research.
